So You Think You Can Dance Season 8 Episode 18 - Top 8 Perform

America's favorite summer series, "So You Think You Can Dance", has kept viewers amazed and inspired as talented dancers skilled in everything from Hip Hop, Krumping and Popping to Salsa, Quickstep and Jive compete to be named America's Favorite Dancer. Hosted by Cat Deeley, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE traveled across the country to Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, New York, Los Angeles and Miami, in search of dancers who represent the best in America. Those who shine during auditions are given a ticket to Las Vegas for callbacks, where they work with top choreographers to learn and then be judged on multiple styles of dance.

So You Think You Can Dance is an American dance reality show and competition that is broadcast on the Fox Network, on Fox Japan, on CTV in Canada, on Living in United Kingdom and Ireland and on Network Ten in Australia.

Prev story: Dancers in Atlanta, Georgia perform for Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Lil' C and dancers in San Francisco, California perform for Nigel Lythgoe, Toni Redpath and Tyce DiOrio in hopes of earning a ticket to Las Vegas for callbacks and a chance at the Top 20. Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Robin Antin served as judges for the 3rd stop on the SYTYCD audition tour, Salt Lake City. Nigel and Mary are then joined by Jason Gilkison on their 4th stop in New York City. This year the NYC auditions were held in Brooklyn. Dancers from all around the country descended on Salt Lake City and New York City in hopes of impressing the judges with their dance talent and ear a ticket to Vegas for call back and a chance to be America's Favorite Dancer.

The fifth and final stop on the SYTYCD audition tour is Los Angeles. Dancers come from all over in order to have a chance to dance for the judges and in the hope of earning a ticket to Vegas and becoming America's Favorite Dancer. AFter auditions in 5 cities around the country, 160 dancers have been invited to Callbacks in Las Vegas. Dancers will be cut of the course of a week while completing 5 rounds of choreography, Hip-Hop, Broadway, Ballroom, Group round and Contemporary. From the remaining dancers, the Top 20 will be selected. The top 20 dancers are revealed to a live audience. The Top 20 dancers are grouped together by dance style and performed routines for the judges and audience. The top 10 guys and top 10 girls do routines and then the entire top 20 takes to the stage for a Tyce Diorio finale.

And the competition begins!! The Top 20 are paired up and perform for the judges and America. This year, America gets to start voting at the top 20. Choreographers include Tyce Diorio, Christopher Scott and Travis Wall. Megan Mullally appears as a special guest judge. America's vote will reveal which three couples from the Top 20 will be in the bottom 3. After the bottom dancers perform solos for the Judges, Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and special guest judge, Megan Mullally, must decide which guy and which girl will be sent home. Special Musical Performer is Keri Hilton. Special Guest Dancer is Russian Dancer Gennadi Saveliev.

Since no one was sent home last week, the 20 top dancers perform again, hoping to earn America' vote. Because no one when home last week, the vote is even more important because this week two of the three couples in the bottom three with be sent home. That means, only one couple in the bottom three will survive. Debbie Reynolds joins the judges panel for this show. Routines include hip-hop, jazz, Broadway,Bollywood and Cha-Cha choreographed by such greats as Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo, Jean-Marc Genereux, Mandy Moore, Spencer Liff and more.

Since no one was sent home last week, the judges - Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Debbie Reynolds - must select 4 dancers from the bottom six to eliminate. The top 8 couples (top 16 dancers) remained paired together and perform various dance styles including Jazz, Hip-Hop, Foxtrot, Contemporary and Broadway. The dancers are also broken into two groups of eight and each group performs a routine. Choreographers include Napoleon & Tabitha Dumo, Dee Caspary, Tyce Diorio and Sonya Tayeh. Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy are joined on the judges panel with Lil' C and Kristin Chenoweth.

Two dancers will be voted off, leaving 14 dancers. The top 14 dancers perform for the judges and America. Two dancers will be sent home. The top 12 dancers will be revealed. The top 12 dancers perform for the judges and America. Two more dancers are eliminated, revealing the Top 10. The top 10 dancers dance for the judges and America. Two more dancers learn they have been eliminated.
